To complete this course you will need:
A rigid heddle loom (a small, Sampleit size loom is fine)
1 or 2 x 7.5 dent heddles (depending on which setup option you choose to follow)
Pick up stick longer than the width of your pieces on the loom (11" is fine)
Heddle rod (I use wooden dowel) and string heddles (you can make these yourself) - these materials also depend on which setup option you choose.
Full yarn list will be available upon enrolment.
"This course provided all the skills I was missing to be successful at Krokbragd. Kelly, you are a wonderful teacher and I'm so glad you demonstrate each step so thoroughly for those of us who need the visual repetition. I'm really excited to use my new knowledge to make some beautiful household items and accessories!"
Kathy
The first section is a sampler woven with a single heddle, a pick up stick and a heddle rod.
The second section is the exact same sampler, but woven using two heddles of the same size.
In each sampler section, different colours are used to inspire students as to the colour combination possibilities.
"I loved this course and am hooked on Krokbragd- thank you Kelly. The videos are inspiring as well as clear and concise. As a teacher I know how difficult breaking tasks into easy steps can be. Kelly just has that knack, answering many of my questions as she went through the steps. Krokbragd is a wonderful technique, which allows for creativity and it’s so much fun. Well worth purchasing."
Wendy
You may choose to either weave the sampler twice, practicing both methods of setting up the loom, or weave the sampler once, choosing the set up method you prefer.
Whichever set up method you choose, step by step instructions are provided.
"Krokbragd 101 is fabulous! I have done all of Kelly's Krokbragd classes, starting back when she first posted the ones on YouTube. Krokbragd 101 is her most complete and helpful one to date! There are lots of tips and tricks that are so helpful. I am really enjoying the wall hanging project.
Thank you Kelly for such a comprehensive course on one of my favorite weaving styles!"
Charlotte
In the sampler we learn to weave some really fun and beautiful designs, including:
- Columns
- Squares
- Stripes
- Flowers
- Flame point, and even
- Traffic lights!
You then have the space and freedom to practice these designs on the same warp or to try some of your own designs!
In this course we will be looking at common krokbragd issues like beating tension, appropriate yarns, colour and neat selvedges.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! Krogbragd 101 was exactly what I'd been looking for! Following your detailed steps not only gave me a beautiful piece of woven art, but also an understanding of Krogbragd and how it works; so I’ve now been able to add my own patterns and shapes to my piece. It showed me that Krogbragd is actually quite a simple technique that anyone could quickly master. Loving the designs of Krokbragd, I had previously looked at books and other resources about Krokbragd, but a few minutes in and I’d be saying “What?” - it just wouldn’t stick. Thank you Kelly for all the detail and advice in this class; for less than the price of one of those books, this class did the trick for me! I am now completely hooked on Krokbragd and planning more projects with it".
Erika
There will be additional visual threading diagrams as well as the video demonstrations.
The course culminates in a final project which will be a beautiful, one of a kind wall hanging. I have always wanted to weave a krokbragd wall hanging as an artistic feature for my home and I can’t wait to share this project with all of you!
