Overshot on a floor loom
Learn all about the beautiful overshot weave structure
Learn how to weave beautiful overshot on your floor loom.
The class begins with an adventurous sampler before moving on to a lovely class project over 5 hours of video content!
Please note - to take part in this class you need to know how to warp and weave on your floor loom.
This class is not for absolute beginner floor loom weavers. If you are a beginner, please start with my Introduction to Floor Loom Weaving class for all the basics.
*THIS COURSE IS FULLY CLOSED CAPTIONED
The sampler section is your time to learn and practice.
I will show you how, on just one single 4 shaft threading, you can achieve a huge variety of beautiful patterns.
We will explore methods for making your warp, go through the threading and dressing of the loom and then the wonderful treadling variations.
You also have the freedom to try a variety of yarns you may already have to determine combinations of fibres and colours you love.
The magnificent throw project is a very special piece.
Although it may seem and look complicated, by the time your sampler is finished, you will be ready for this!
If your loom is not wide enough, or just if it is your preference, I also provide calculations for a scarf project as an alternative.
What do I need to complete this class?
A 4 shaft floor loom with 6 treadles. My floor loom has a 35" weaving width, but if your loom is smaller I have provided an alternative class project.
2 lease sticks
Raddle
Warping board or mill
2 boat shuttles
Threading and reed hook/s
Warp separator materials. This could be a thick roll of paper, separator sticks, bamboo blind, drawer liner or similar

If you have always wanted to try weaving overshot but felt intimidated, this class is for you!
